How to Fix a Small Crack in a Pop-Up Top

A small crack in a pop up style camper may seem minor, but it can still allow water to leak into the camping cabin. It is important to seal and repair the crack to prevent moisture from entering the camper, as well as to prevent the crack from getting bigger. Once the repair is finished, take some time to investigate what caused the crack. Cracks may be indicative of a bent roof.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Dust off the crack and scrape away any excess gunk. Fill the crack from the inside with the silicone caulk.

    • 2

Spread the caulk out along the crack line so it is smooth and even. Go outside and add caulk to the crack from the exterior of the camper. Smear the caulk so it is smooth against the roof.

    • 3

Let the caulk dry overnight. Once dry, add a piece of micro-sealant repair tape (available at camping supply stores) over the sealed crack. Add another piece of the tape to the exterior.

    • 4

Scrape off any excess caulk sticking out of the tape for aesthetics.
