Instructions

    • 1

Create a fire ring of rocks that are head-sized or larger. Make a circle with a 2- to 3-foot diameter.

    • 2

Gather kindling consisting of dried leaves, paper and small sticks that are about the diameter of your fingers and less than a foot long. Gather larger logs that are at least the diameter of your arm.

    • 3

Place the dried leaves or paper in a pile in the center of the fire ring.

    • 4

Lay your kindling over the top of the leaves or paper in a crisscross pattern.

    • 5

Light the leaves and paper with a match.

    • 6

Lay more pieces of kindling atop the pile once the leaves, paper and the small sticks are burning actively.

    • 7

Add larger pieces of wood until the fire reaches the size you desire.
