Orvis
-
Orvis runs a two-day fly-fishing school in Nemacolin at the Woodlands Resort. Students fish in the Youghiogheny River during the course. The course combines outdoor instructions with indoor classwork; instructors use video analysis to help students perfect their technique. The school teaches its own Orvis Progressive Method To Fly Casting, which emphasizes adaptability. The program boasts a 4 to 1 student to teacher ratio for individual attention. The course activities last from 9 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. both days, which allows the students to enjoy other activities at the resort such as the golf course and spa. The school typically offers nine sessions from July through October.
