How to Replace Leki Expanders

Leki trekking poles have springs and a plastic device called an expander inside them. This allows the poles to telescope out, thus providing adjustable length. If you need the poles to be longer, add expanders. Leki makes the expanders and poles so you don't need any tools for replacement and installation.

      Turn the adjustment barrels on the poles counterclockwise. Pull the bottom pole completely out from the main pole.

      Unscrew the old expander at the top of the pole spring.

      Screw on the new expander until it is all the way onto the lock bolt.

      Push the expander, spring and pole rod back into the main pole. Turn the adjustment barrel clockwise to tighten the trekking pole to position you want.
