Black Diamond has been designing equipment for outdoor adventure since 1957. They have a large line of hiking or trekking poles in sizes that fit children to adults for year-round adventure in your backyard or on the mountainside. Their poles feature flicklock technology, making adjustments easy even while in motion, whether you are skiing or heading up the hill. The benefits of using Black Diamond hiking poles is that it helps with balance while taking away the strain on your legs and knees especially on the downhills.

Instructions

    • 1

Extend your poles. Find the correct pole length so that the when your arms are bent 90 degrees, your pole tips should hit the ground with your hands on the grips.

    • 2

Note the mark where your pole length rests. Find the identical mark on the opposite pole and lock down your second pole.

    • 3

Take a pole in each hand distributing the weight evenly on each palm by using the hand straps. To put your hands in the straps correctly, place them underneath through the loops. Grasp the handle with the loop hitting the wrist.

    • 4

Adjust the length of your loop, if needed, by yanking on the strap where the tiny wedge is located. You can now downsize your loop or make it larger.

    • 5

Walk forward, planting the opposite pole on the ground to leg with each step. Your pole should land level with your foot.

    • 6

Develop a rhythm with your stride so that planting the poles becomes second nature.

    • 7

Leverage off your poles with each step to take away some of the shock and pressure put on your knees and legs.

    • 8

Collapse your poles when not in use for storage or transporting.
