Rocking M Stables offers summer camps for beginning and advanced riders. Children from 4 through 8 years of age may learn to ride ponies. These lessons last two hours a day for a period of three days. Children 8 years of age and older have lessons on horses. These lessons also are two hours each day for a three day period. The first thing children do each morning is to give their horse a bath to keep him cool during the riding time. Children then are able to give their horse a snack to help them get acquainted. Classes are limited to four children so students are able to get plenty of one on one instruction from their leaders.

Benbrook Stables

Benbrook Stables is located 15 minutes southwest of Dallas-Fort Worth. Benbrook offers two day summer camps during the months of June and July. The students are broken down into groups and rotated from one area to the next. They learn a different topic at each station. Students learn the basics of feeding, grooming and proper nutrition for the horse. They also learn about horse tack and riding equipment and horseback riding safety. After mastering these basics, students learn riding techniques. A hay ride is one of the camp activities. Benbrook offers one instructor for each 10 children with two instructors per group provided for riding stations. Students need to bring a sack lunch and wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Marshall Creek Ranch

Marshall Creek Ranch is located in Southlake, 30 minutes west of Dallas-Fort Worth. The ranch offers summer riding lessons for children ages 7 to 15, over five days and 40 hours. The rider is assigned her own horse at the beginning of the camp and rides that horse throughout the summer camp.Trainees are divided into groups based upon their riding abilities. Groups are for inexperienced riders, intermediate riders and advanced riding groups. At the end of the week-long camp, riders put on a demonstration for their parents and friends.
