How to Install a Magpul MAG307

The Magpul MAG307 Precision Rifle/Sniper (PRS) adjustable stock is a drop-in modification for the M16/AR15 series of rifles that replaces the standard fixed stock. The PRS is adjustable for both cheek riser height and length of pull without the use of tools. The Magpul MAG307 can be installed only on AR 15 and M16A1/A2 models fitted with the M16 rifle buffer tube without the M16A2 extension. It cannot be fitted on M4 carbines or other models of the M16/AR15 that feature the carbine-style telescoping buffer tube.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the rifle's fire selector switch to the safe position. Press the magazine catch on the right side of the weapon, and pull the magazine free of the magazine well and set it side. Pull back on the charging handle to clear the weapon. Look through the ejection port to visually inspect the chamber and verify that the rifle is not loaded.

    • 2

Press the take-down pin out of the upper receiver, using a drift pin or the point of a bullet. The take-down pin is located on the left rear of the receiver, just above and behind the fire selector switch. Swing the upper receiver away from the lower receiver.

    • 3

Press out the receiver hinge pin and pull the upper receiver free from the lower receiver. Set the upper receiver aside.

    • 4

Detach the PRS stock's rubber butt pad using a 1/8-inch Allen wrench. Set the butt pad aside. Be careful not to lose the screws.

    • 5

Slide the PRS stock over the M16 rifle receiver extension. Make sure the take-down pin spring doesn't bind as you slide the stock forward on the extension. If the stock doesn't slide on easily, loosen the two hex screws on the sling mount using a 1/8-inch Allen wrench.

    • 6

Insert the mounting screw into the rear of the PRS stock and tighten it down with a flat head screwdriver. Use the 1/8-inch Allen wrench to reattach the rubber butt pad to the stock. Tighten the hex screws on the sling mount if you loosened them during installation.

    • 7

Mate the upper receiver hinge half to the lower receiver hinge and secure the coupling with the receiver hinge pin. Swing the rear of the upper receiver into place against the lower receiver and lock it into place by re-inserting the take-down pin.
