How to Install a Magpul MIAD

The Magpul MIAD is a replacement pistol grip for AR15, M16 and M4 rifles. The MIAD improves on standard grip ergonomics with removable front and rear panels; it creates a custom-fit a range of hand sizes. Small, medium and large backstraps are included. A removable inner core is an option that provides storage space for a spare firing-pin, bolt or batteries. The standard rubber-core-plug allows storage of three emergency rounds of ammunition.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the rifle is unloaded. Engage the safety.

    • 2

Turn the rifle upside down, and remove the original grip from receiver. Remove the selector spring held in place by the grip. Leave the selector detent in the receiver.

    • 3

Press on the two extensions that protrude from each side of the MIAD grip. Push the locking tab toward the rear of the grip; this releases the core of the grip. Remove the core from the MIAD grip, along with the plastic bag containing installation parts.

    • 4

Make sure the selector detent is in the receiver. Place the selector spring in the right-side hole on the top of the grip's main body.

    • 5

Insert the MIAD grip into the receiver. Verify that the selector spring engages with the selector detent-hole.

    • 6

Install the supplied panhead screw into the front hole of the grip. Tighten the screw.

    • 7

Test the safety selector -- and other functions -- before firing to verify operation.
