How to Install an M66 Ring Mount

The M66 ring mount is typically installed on army cargo and troop transport vehicles that require machine gun protection. A machine gun is mounted onto a pintle which gives the operator a 360 degree firing zone. Installation is slightly challenging due to the ring mounts 314-lb. weight; however, once the ring mount is in place, installation is straightforward requiring only a few common tools.

Instructions

    • 1

      Fit the rear ring mount supports evenly onto the vehicle's traverse beam. Secure the rear ring mount supports using the bolts provided in the ring mount kit with a socket wrench and socket.

      Fit the front ring mount supports evenly onto the vehicle's hull. Fasten the front supports using the provided bolts with a socket wrench and socket.

      Use a lifting device capable of lifting 314 lbs. to raise the ring mount just above the supports. Align the mounting holes on the ring mount with the mounting holes on the support, and slowly lower the mount onto the supports.

      Fasten the ring mount to the supports using the provided bolts with a torque wrench. Fasten the ammo box holder straps onto the ring mount by threading them through the strap brackets.

      Secure the back rest to the back of the ring mount using two pin bars and two cotter pins.

      Fasten the deflector support on the front of the ring mount using the provided bolts with a socket wrench and socket. Fasten the deflector onto the deflector support using the provided bolts with a socket wrench and socket.

      Fasten the gun mount that fits your weapon onto the center of the ring mount using the provided bolts with a socket wrench and socket.
