  1. How to Measure the Fit for Riedell Ice Skates

    • 1

Choose the model you would like to purchase. It's important to decide on the particular model prior to working toward a fit. Some models require different fitting techniques.

    • 2

Measure the length of your foot. To do this, use the tape measure to measure from the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe. Make sure you measure on the bottom of your foot. Measure both feet and use the largest number as the guide.

    • 3

Measure the width of your foot. To do this, use the tape measure to measure the thickest part of your foot. Wrap the tape measure around your entire foot, and make sure to pull tightly--not so much that it hinders circulation, but just to get it snug--before taking your measurement.

    • 4

Using the Riedell sizing chart, find your proper size in the model you've chosen. For example, if you are a female with a foot length of 9 inches and width of 8-1/4 inches, you'll need a size 4.5 with a width size of 6.

    • 5

Fit the boot to your foot. Riedell recommends massaging the heel support in the boot. To do this, simply remove the shielding to expose the padding in the heel. Aggressively massage this area until it is supple.

    • 6

Try the boots on for a skate. If after two weeks they still feel uncomfortable, attempt to re-work the heel padding or take them into the retailer for a re-fit.
