1998 Mongoose MGX DXR Specifications
-
Suspension
-
The Mongoose MGX DXR is equipped with a dual suspension system, allowing for frame shock absorption in both the front and rear. The suspension can be adjusted for more impact absorption on extremely uneven terrain or tightened up for smoother trail riding. For the cheap nature of this bike, the shocks work quite effectively and provide a smooth ride over a variety of terrain.
Gears
-
The Mongoose MGX DXR is a 21-speed mountain bike. Between the high and low gear differential, a rider can find a smooth transition through gears while on tough uphill climbs. Shifting is controlled on the grip. The front and rear derailleur set on the Mongoose is made by Shimano, which plays a large part of the smooth action while shifting gears.
Seat, Frame and Rims
-
The Mongoose DXR frame is as lightweight as it can be for the cost. The saddle-style seat gives great support and can be adjusted to suit a rider's height. The frame is made from machined aluminum and the rims are super tough, able to withstand the punishment of rocks on tough rides without becoming bent. With such a strong and light frame, along with great front and rear shock absorption, the Mongoose MGX DXR is a great all-around mountain bike for an affordable price.
