GT Backwoods Mountain Bike Specifications

GT first established itself as the Southern California BMX racing bike manufacturer 36 years ago. In the late 1980s GT expanded into the mountain biking scene and has since honed its products for speed, speed and more speed.

  1. About the GT Backwoods

    • The GT Backwoods front suspension bicycle model was produced from 1994 to 2000 and offers sizes x-large, large, medium, small and x-small. Bicycle color choices are black with blue trim or red with white trim.

    Frame and Fork

    • The GT Backwoods features lightweight 7000 aluminum with TIG-welded joints. Aluminum is also used for the fork combined with a Rock Shox front suspension system. Aluminum became the industry standard in the mid-1990s and continues to be the frame and fork material of choice offering not only durability but cost-effectiveness.

    Components

    • The GT Backwoods mountain bicycle features mostly high-quality Shimano components. Shimano offers quality and durability for amateur riders as well as those riding at a more elite level. Shimano components include shift levers, derailleurs, brackets and chain. Other relevant components are Koski brakes, SR Crankset, Ritchey Logic pedals, SDG Saddle and Syncros handlebar.

    Wheels

    • The GT Backwoods bicycle comes with Real Disc front wheel hubs and Shimano rear wheel hubs and Weinmann XC 420 rims. Tires are Tioga factory XC in size 26 x 1.95". There are stainless steel straight gauge spokes and alloy spoke nipples.
