Begin by building the base first. Make an "H" out of the pipes by using the ratchet to screw two 10 inch sections of pipe to either side of a T. Also screw two 12 inch sections of pipe by hand into either side of a T. Connect the end of the 10 inch sections to the T that the 12 inch sections are screwed into with the ratchet. Repeat the process for the other end of the 10 inch sections for form an "H."

Use the screwdriver to bolt the top and bottom of the H to the pieces of scrap lumber to provide a wider base for the stand. Screw a 3 foot length of pipe into the center T of the crossmember for the H shaped base. At the top of the 3 foot pipe, connect a 90 degree elbow with the ratchet and attach a T at the end of the elbow.

Connect two lengths (6 inches or so) of pipe to each side of the T and then connect 90 degree elbows to the end of the short pipes with the ratchet. Wrap all of the pipes in foam insulation and mount your bike on the rack by resting its top tube on the flat surface created at the top of the rack.
