How to Use a CamelBak HydroBak

CamelBak is best known for its backpack hydration systems. These systems consist of a reservoir and a tube that allows for hands-free hydration while on the go. The HydroBak is the cheapest hydration pack offered by CamelBak. It is designed for everyday use and has a capacity of 50 oz., or 1.5 liters. The pack is easy to use and will typically keep you hydrated for one to two hours of activity.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the reservoir. The HydroBak reservoir should be cleaned and dried before the first use and after every subsequent use. To do so, unscrew the reservoir top and fill the reservoir with hot water and 2 tbsp. of baking soda or bleach. Mix the solution inside the reservoir and pinch the bite valve at the end of the tube to allow it to run through the tube. Keep the solution inside the reservoir for about 30 minutes.

    • 2

Empty the solution from the reservoir and wash the reservoir with hot water and mild soap. Be sure to wash away all of the soap and cleaning solution by scrubbing and rinsing the reservoir thoroughly.

    • 3

Let the reservoir air dry. Be sure that there is no moisture inside before screwing on the cap; trapped moisture can cause mold to grow.

    • 4

Unscrew the cap and fill the reservoir with drinking water. Replace the cap and make sure it is on tight.

    • 5

Drink from your HydroBak by placing the bite valve located at the end of the tube in your mouth. Bite down gently to open the valve and suck. If you are not getting any water, make sure the flow control near the bite valve is open and aligned with the tube.
