How to Repair a Leatherman Mini

The Leaterman Mini is a small version of the company's larger multi-tool offerings. It features 12 different tools in the small housing and comes with a 25-year warranty. The Mini folds into itself and has a safety mechanism that prevents tools or knife blades from collapsing back toward the housing during use. According to Leatherman, you should clean your Mini after exposing it to wet and damp conditions.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Mini's housing and test that the housing opens with resistance and closes with tension. If not, place the vise grip tips on the small housing rivets; keep one vise grip on each side's rivets.

    • 2

Twist the vise grips in opposite directions to tighten the housing rivets.

    • 3

Open the knife blade. Spread sharpening oil on the sharpening stone. Wipe the blade across the stone at a 45 degree angle. Keep the blade going in one direction. Turn the blade over and repeat. Wipe down the blade and put back into the housing.

    • 4

Grip the tip of bent tools with one pair of vise grips and apply gentle pressure to bend back into the original position. Do not overbend as this may cause the tool to fail.

    • 5

Add two or three drops of 3-in-1 oil to the housing closure and rivets.
