How to Mount Marker Griffon Bindings

Mount your Marker Griffon bindings only if you have knowledge of and experience with ski equipment. Professional ski shops use a jig that shows the screw positions, centers the binding on the ski and stops the drill before it goes too deep. If you choose to mount your skis without a jig, you will likely find it difficult to center the bindings precisely. After mounting the bindings, adjust them to your boots so that the binding will release safely and reliably.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the center line on your skis and boots. Decide whether you're going to mount your skis at the manufacturer's recommended position, at true center or somewhere in between. Skiers who frequently ski backward prefer to mount their skis at true center. The manufacturer's center line is farther back on the ski and a more traditional mounting position.

    • 2

Remove the ski brake by unscrewing the screw beneath the brake platform.

    • 3

Place your boot in the binding on the ski. Line up the boot sole mark with the line on your ski you have decided to use as center. Center the binding on the ski both left to right and tip to tail.

    • 4

Remove the boot without moving the bindings. If you have an assistant, have him hold the binding steady while doing so.

    • 5

Mark on your ski with a pen where all of the screw holes will go.

    • 6

Center the markings on the ski using a tape measure.

    • 7

Hold your drill bit vertically next to the sidewall of your ski. Lift the drill bit beside the ski so that it would extend in as far as two-thirds of the ski's depth. Mark this point on the drill bit with electrical tape. This indicator will be a guide that shows you when to stop drilling.

    • 8

Drill holes carefully in each of the places on the ski you marked. Be sure to drill straight down and not too deeply.

    • 9

Put a drop of wood glue in each of the holes.

    • 10

Place the binding back on the ski. Tighten the screws with the Pozidriv screwdriver. You may need to move the heel piece forward or backward to line up the screwdriver vertically above each screw.

    • 11

Return the brake to the ski by sliding it into place. Replace the screw to secure it.

    • 12

Repeat Steps 1 through 12 with the second ski.

    • 13

Adjust the DIN release setting and forward pressure before using the skis.
