How to Tell What Model a LandRider Bike Is

Bike riding is fun, especially if you have a quality bicycle that helps when the going gets tough. LandRider road bikes are easy to ride, with a patented automatic gear-shifting system on most models, and shock absorption. You can decide which features you like best and choose from one of five models.

      Determine the cost. New LandRiders are priced approximately as follows: Deluxe AutoShift - $400; Deluxe SP AutoShift - $480; Elite AutoShift - $700; Comfort Road - $700; and Hybrid - $300. You can buy refurbished bikes for less.

      Examine the handlebars. If the LandRider bike has drop handlebars, it is the Comfort Road model. The Comfort Road also comes with an extra wide seat.

      Note the color. If the bike is champagne gold, it is either the Deluxe or Hybrid model. The other models are aluminum-silver color.

      Check the gear-changing mechanism. The Hybrid model has a 14-speed Shimano manual transmission instead of the auto-shift mechanism on the other models.

      Lift the bike. Although the the Deluxe Autoshift and Elite Autoshift models look similar, the Deluxe model is heavier because it is made of steel. The Elite model weighs 29 pounds and is made of 7005 aluminum alloy.

      Look for reinforced components on the frame. The Deluxe SP differs from the Deluxe in that it is designed for people 300 pounds and larger.
