Home Remedies to Anti-Fog Face Shields for Snowmobiling

When out in the snow, whether snowboarding, skiing or riding a snowmobile, the most important aspect is keeping your vision clear so you know exactly what is ahead of you. Goggles often will fog up, though, dangerously limiting your visibility. But there are several methods to use to anti-fog face shields for snowmobiling.
  1. Saliva

    • Simple saliva is marginally effective and free. This is an easy technique to cut back on fogging. Before going to the snow, take out your goggles and spit into the lenses, and wipe it around with a soft cloth. Allow it to dry overnight. This will create a thin clear film over the lenses that will protect it from fogging up.

    Dish Soap

    • Similar to the spit-and-wipe technique, but more sanitary, is to put a small amount of dish soap in a bowl of water, mix it, and then use the mixture to wash out the inside of the goggles. Do not dry the goggles, but instead allow them to air dry. The soap and water will dry to create a thin, clear film that will curb fogging. Toothpaste also works. Rub it over the lenses, then clean with water. This leaves a film, too.

    Proper-Size Goggles

    • Goggles that don't fit are more likely to fog. Make sure when purchasing goggles and masks that they are the proper size and fit.

    Miscellaneous

    • Do not remove your goggles until after snowmobiling.
