The North Texas State Fair and Rodeo, which occurs at the end of the summer, has hosted rodeo and bull riding events for more than 80 years. The Bull Blowout bull riding event is a three-day affair. The fair showcases music groups, a rodeo for riders aged 21 and under, an Invitational Ranch Rodeo, rodeo riders from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and a “Muttin Bustin” competition.
Rodeo Gainesville

The Gainesville Riding Club (GRC) hosts the annual Rodeo Gainesville event, which features traditional rodeo events, including barrel-racing, bareback riding, Saddle Bronc, Steer-wrestling, tie-down, team roping and bull-riding.
Rodeo Gainsville features both amateur and professional rodeo riders (including bull riders) and including ranching skill demonstrations and rodeo queen and princess competition for young girls.
The rodeo is held in the Gainesville Riding Club Arena and is co-hosted by the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event go to a scholarship fund for GRC student members. Individuals interested in practicing their rodeo riding and competition skills can participate in the GRC playdays, which are day-long rodeo competition events for beginners and experienced riders. Playdays occur about once a month.
Jim Bowie Days Championship Rodeo

The annual Jim Bowie Days Championship Rodeo takes place in Bowie, Texas, which is in the greater Gainesville proximity. The rodeo features eight major events, including bull riding, double mugging, ranch bronc riding and steer wrestling. The rodeo takes place during the evenings for three days in a row and also features a youth rodeo, all slack, and ladies’ events, including ladies’ barrel racing. There is an entry fee for each event that covers one go-round.
Other Jim Bowie Days events include a car show, queen contest, artifact show, quilt show and parade.
