Making Your Own Dream Team
-
1
Study before the draft. In Fantasy Football, it does not matter how many wins or losses a particular team or player has. It all comes down to individual statistics and their translation to fantasy points.
-
2
Draft a quarterback with your first pick. If possible, draft New Orleans QB Drew Brees. He is a fantasy player's dream, as he racks up great yards, a lot of touchdowns and few interceptions. Other good QBs include Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Donovan McNabb and Aaron Rodgers.
-
3
Take a running back in the second round. While the odds are likely that the "elite" running backs will be taken in the first round, many unknown backs who play in good systems will still be available. Draft backs that are either part of a two-back tandem or play in a "wildcat" offense, as those backs are capable of bringing in running, passing and receiving points.
-
4
Grab receivers who are No. 1 on their team's depth chart. Even if the No. 1 receiver is on a last-place team, he will still have more receptions than an elite team's third-stringers.
-
5
Wait until the late rounds to draft a defense. Most defenses work as stopgaps, not adding points but preventing points from being taken away. Fantasy players tend to ignore defenses until the late rounds, and there is no guarantee that a defense will be able to perform up to its draft position. Unlike with offensive players, you can't change an entire defense if one key player is hurt.
