1
Research the name of and contact information for your local youth football league. Register your team with the league by computer, telephone or in-person sign-up, depending on the league's requirements. Get copies of rules, regulations and playing schedules. Note payment, sign-up and other deadlines, which vary between leagues.
-
2
Find out how many players your league requires per team, as team size varies between leagues. Recruit players by displaying signs made with poster board or construction paper and markers. Include information about the sport and contact data at schools and community centers. Register the players with your team.

3
Select a coaching staff. Choose a head coach, as well as an offensive and defensive coach. Invite parents of players to volunteer their time as coaches.
-
4
Choose a name for the new team or use the name assigned by the league. Determine the date of the new team's first game. Make a practice schedule; plan to practice the amount of hour per practice and per week as your league allows. Distribute copies of the practice and playing schedules to parents of players and coaching staff.

5
Allow players equal opportunity to play, when possible. Teach the children football skills appropriate for their age; passing and running drills are appropriate for elementary age students, while middle school students can learn plays involving up to three steps each. Set goals with the players to accomplish by the end of the season, such as number of completed passes or interceptions.
