1
Print out a picture of the South African soccer logo. Although the steps below will explain how to draw it, you will find it easier if you are able to see the picture also. See the website of the South African soccer federation (Resources) for a picture.
-
2
Lay the shirt you are drawing the logo onto flat on a table or desk. Place a piece of newspaper or cardboard inside the shirt to protect the back while you are drawing on the front.
-
3
Place the jam jar over the left breast of the shirt and draw around it with the pencil. This will only be faintly visible on the shirt, so it doesn't matter if you make a mistake. When you have drawn the first circle, move the jam jar to the right to prepare to draw a second circle. The second circle you draw should overlap slightly with the first, and both circles should be on the same level. When you are happy with the alignment of the jam jar, draw the second circle with the pencil.
-
4
Draw in pencil, panels of black on the left circle to represent the black panels on a soccer ball. Each panel is an equilateral hexagon, and the points of each hexagon have lines emanating that join with lines of other hexagons. There are five hexagons on the left circle of the South African logo. The right circle covers the left circle where it overlaps, so you do not need to draw in this area.
-
5
Draw with pencil on the right circle. The right circle contains only an outline of South Africa. You can draw this by hand with the pencil, using the eraser to make any changes as you go along. When you are happy with your outline, color in the outline of South Africa using a yellow fabric pen.
-
6
Use the straight edge to draw a series of horizontal lines in the right circle. Use the yellow fabric pen to draw these lines, which should number thirteen. The lines should only be in the right circle, including the area where it overlaps the left circle.
-
7
Color in the black panels in the right circle, and draw the lines that link the hexagons. When you have finished this, use the straight edge to draw horizontal lines in the right circle. The lines should be at the same level as the yellow lines, and should form a continuation of the yellow ones.
-
8
Draw with the black pen around the outside of the circles. Do the right circle first, because this is the complete circle. When you have drawn this, draw the left circle outline, although do not draw on the area of overlap with the right circle. Write below them "South African," and below this "Football Association" to complete the logo.
