How to Survive Boot Camp
Instructions

-
1
Prepare physically before actually leaving for the training environment by exercising daily for a minimum of six months before your date of departure. A conditioning program comprised of running, sit ups and push ups is quite effective.
-
2
Attend every pre-ship meeting your recruiter schedules. Valuable information about your upcoming experience in boot camp will be passed to you by your recruiter during these appointments.
-
3
Discuss your anxieties about the military with those who have already served and returned to civilian life, whether or not they served in combat. Questions left unanswered can develop into nagging worries that can weaken your resolve in the stressful training environment designed to simulate the combat experience.
-
4
Establish a regular pattern of sufficient sleep before shipping. Your sleep will be disrupted throughout the course of your first few days in boot camp. The better rested you are going in, the better your performance is likely to be.
-
5
Expect harsh treatment and constant yelling from the instructors. The instructor's mission is to rattle you in order to see how you respond to mistreatment.
-
6
Manage your emotional responses. Laughing or talking back to instructors is assuredly an unwise course of action.
