How to Pick the Correct Carbon Express Arrow

When choosing any arrow, an archer must pick the proper spine in order to get the best arrow for the job. The concept of a proper spine is not much different from choosing the amount of flexibility found in a fishing pole -- the flexibility of the pole is determined by the weight and strength of the fish you are searching for. Therefore choosing the strength and flexibility of the arrow's spine will determine the amount of power you have in taking down your target. You can choose the proper Carbon Express bow by following the manufacturer's recommended guidelines.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a "bow draw weight" chart from Carbon Express.com. The chart will be a PDF file and is under the Arrow Selection Guide on Carbon Express Arrows.com.

    • 2

Enter your measured draw peak weight in the top line. This is the peak amount of weight an archer will pull while drawing the bow. Consult a draw weight chart to determine your peak draw weight for your sex, age and weight.

    • 3

Enter the determining factors such as a round wheel, a modified cam or a high-energy cam into the next line. Subtract the provided calculation for the target points and the arrow length.

    • 4

Add three points for finger release for bows with draw weights of 59 pounds and under, and six points for bows that have a draw weight of over 60 pounds.

    • 5

Check your bow's speed rating. You can do this by consulting the instruction manual or the manufacture's website. Add the precalculated points for the bow's range. Calculate the variables you have entered to get your adjusted bow draw weight.

Download the Hunting Arrow Shaft Selection Guide from Carbon Express Arrows and choose which arrow will be appropriate for the adjusted bow draw weight.
