How to Finger Release a Bow With a 37-Inch Cable Length

A finger release is a method of drawing and releasing the arrow from the bow and is used for accurate and stable archery. When using the release, concentrate on the draw, breathing and gentle release of the bow string to let the arrow fly to the target. The method is valid for all bow string lengths, including the 37-inch cable lengths.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on the finger guard. Set several target arrows and the firing line at a target zone.

    • 2

Nock a target arrow onto the 37-inch bow string at the nock-site in the middle of the string. Nocking means placing the arrow onto the marked section of the bow string.

    • 3

Keep the bow in the non-dominant hand --- if you are a right hander, this is the left hand --- but do not grip the bow. Use the thumb and hand as a cradle for the bow handle. Keep the fingers of the bow handle hand at a 45-degree angle to the bow shaft.

    • 4

Place the first two fingers of the cable hand onto the nock at the arrow point. At the same time, push the bow forward with the bow hand. Hold the arrow and nock with the two fingers. As the bow pushes out and the string bends, keep the bow string elbow pointed out at a 45-degree angle to the bow string.

    • 5

Breathe in when the bow is all the way out. Concentrate on your target and lift the two fingers off the bow string and breathe out. Let the arrow and string fly out towards the bow shaft. Keep the bow string arm and hand in position until the bow string has sent the arrow toward the target.
