How to Replace a Whisker Biscuit

An arrow rest is vital to maintaining proper arrow flight and stability. Arrow rests come in many varieties and are designed to hold the arrow in proper alignment on the bow. The whisker biscuit arrow rest's circular design and nylon bristles create full-capture arrow containment. The whisker biscuit rest is commonly located in the middle riser section of the bow, just behind the sight. The biscuit, or ring of bristles in the center of the rest, can become damaged or worn with use and may require replacement.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the rubber boots from each end of the opening in the whisker biscuit ring. The whisker biscuit ring is the circular aluminum or composite ring housing the nylon bristles called the whisker biscuit. The rubber boots cover each open end of the whisker biscuit ring and are designed to silence the sound of loading an arrow into the rest. The boots are secured with a light adhesive. Some manipulation with fingers may be necessary to fully remove the boots. Avoid using tools that may damage the boots.

    • 2

Loosen the set screws on the biscuit ring using an Allen wrench.

    • 3

Rotate the nylon bristles in the ring so that the v-notch in the bristles is directly opposite of the opening in the biscuit ring.

    • 4

Cut the biscuit in half through the opening in the biscuit ring using wire cutters. Remove all pieces of the biscuit from the groove in the biscuit ring.

    • 5

Place the new biscuit into the top groove in the biscuit ring. The black bristles, or arrow support, should be at the bottom center of the biscuit ring.

    • 6

Press the biscuit into the biscuit ring with your thumb. Begin at the top of the ring where the biscuit was placed in the groove. Manipulate the biscuit using light pressure around the biscuit ring until the biscuit snaps securely into the groove.

    • 7

Rotate the biscuit until the black support bristles are at the bottom of the biscuit ring.

    • 8

Tighten the set screws to secure the biscuit into the biscuit ring.

    • 9

Install the rubber boots on each side of the opening in the biscuit ring. Use a drop of adhesive to secure each boot. Super glue is a recommended adhesive.
