How to Do AND1 Crossover

The crossover move, or AND1 crossover, is a type of basketball dribble that is meant to confuse the defender and provide the ballhandler with a clear path to the basket. It was popularized by the over-the-top crossovers seen on the AND1 Street Ball Tour in the late 1990s. The AND1 crossover is a combination of exact timing, body control and fast movements. The crossover is quite difficult to master and requires thorough practice to be effective.

Instructions

Get in a good basketball position, with your feet shoulder width apart and your body crouched down half way. Start with the ball in your primary dribbling hand, dribble once or twice straight down, and prepare to begin the AND1 crossover.

    • 2

Pick up your primary foot at the same time that you cup the ball mid dribble, and then put foot down hard 12 to 18 inches towards your defender. At the same time, push your hips hard in the same direction while rotating your shoulders and chest towards the other direction.

Cup the ball and dribble in a horizontal line hard towards your other hand. At the same time, take a big step with your non-primary foot towards the basket and push off from your other foot. If there is a defender guarding you, he should be leaning hard to your primary side, leaving you space to continue your path to the basket.
