1
Measure your child's height by having them straddle the bicycle. They should be able to stand on the ground with at least one inch of space above the seat.
-
2
Attach the front wheel to the front fork of the bike by aligning the wheel tabs with the holes in the fork. Use the included nuts to attach the wheel. In most cases, the rear wheel of all Huffy Diego bikes should already be assembled when prepackaged. Your bike may come with both wheels already attached.
-
3
Install training wheels by attaching the legs to the frame by the rear wheel. Place an alignment bracket insert, leg and nut on both sides of the axle. The alignment insert should fit securely inside the frame of the training wheel leg. Adjust the height of each leg so that they are even on both sides and tighten the nuts.
-
4
Adjust the seat height by turning the nut counterclockwise on the seat post bracket to loosen. Adjust the height and tighten the nut to secure the seat in a stationary position. Note that some models do not include an adjustable seat clamp.
-
5
Maintain and inspect the bike regularly to ensure safety. Tighten pedals by turning clockwise so that the pedal threads are as far into the pedal crank as possible. Ensure that the pads are well-secured by the Velcro fasteners. Check the tires for wear or damage after great amounts of use.
