Frame and Fork
-
At the heart of the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR XC is its TIG-welded A1 aluminum frame. This frame's multi-pivot suspension design utilizes a Fox Vanilla Float air shock that delivers 3 inches of suspension travel at the rear wheel. The front fork of this bicycle is an Answer Manitou SX suspension fork with a single crown design that offers 3.15 inches of front wheel travel.
Cockpit
-
The Specialized Stumpjumper FSR XC's steering is modulated by an in-house Specialized thread-less headset with a Specialized-branded alloy stem and handlebar. The controls mounted to the handlebar are a combination of Shimano Deore XT Rapidfire SL shifters and Avid SD-1.9 L brake levers. Both shifting and braking controls are cable-actuated.
Gearing
-
Front shifting duties are handled by a Shimano Deore XT top-swing derailleur while shifting up and down the rear cogs is handled by a Shimano XTR rear derailleur. A Specialized-branded bottom bracket connects the Specialized ForeArm Pro aluminum alloy crankset to the Stumpjumper FSR XC's frame. Front chain rings are 22, 32 and 44 teeth in size. A nine-speed cogset is mounted on the rear wheel with gears ranging in size from 11 to 32 teeth, and a Shimano chain joins the front chain rings to the rear gear cassette.
Wheelset
-
The Specialized Stumpjumper FSR XC is fitted with a set of Mavic X221 aluminum alloy rims and Specialized STOUT hubs. Connecting these 32-spoke rims to the hubs is a set of DT stainless steel, straight-gauge spokes. Braking duty is handled by a set of Avid 1D-25 V-brakes that apply pressure to the rim's sidewall. Wrapped around the Mavix rims are a set of Specialized house brand tires.
