1
Select where you will hang the punching bag. When you have an area chosen, use a stud finder to locate a stud you can hang the bag from. Keep in mind you will need a 10-by-10-foot area to be able to conveniently work around the bag. It will also allow for the bag to swing so you can throw punches from different angles.

2
Drill a hole through a joist with the drill. Make sure the hole allows for the eye bolt to slide through without too much space around it. With the eye bolt side facing downward, slide the bolt into the hole, placing the washer on top. Secure the eye bolt with the nut. To tighten the nut completely, hold it with pliers and use the screwdriver to twist the eye bolt.

3
Place an S hook on the eye bolt and hang the speed swivel from the bottom. Use a pair of pliers to crimp the hook so it stays in place while you are using the punching bag. You may also choose to use an open ring that can be crimped shut.

4
Attach the hanging chains to the bag using S hooks. The bottom of the bag should be about waist high so you are punching the middle of the bag. Make sure the bottoms of the S hooks are facing outward and the chain is an equal length all the way around. You can crimp or tape around the top of the S hooks with athletic tape.

5
Hook the closed ring of the punching bag chains to the bottom of the S hook on the speed swivel. You can crimp this connection as well to ensure it does not fall as you use the bag.
