Ohio Colleges With Football Teams

Football is a popular sport in the U.S., especially at the college level, and the state of Ohio is no exception. There are many different college football conferences and divisions across the country and there are many colleges in Ohio with football programs. Some are small schools with small programs while others are at much larger campuses with programs that compete at the national level.

  1. The Ohio State University

    • The Ohio State University is located in Columbus and football is one of the athletic programs that the Buckeyes compete in at a national level. The Buckeyes are part of the Big Ten Conference and have won the national Bowl Championship Series title once. The Ohio State University was founded in 1870 and is currently home to almost 50,000 undergraduates.

    Kent State University

    • The Kent State University Golden Flashes are located in Kent, Ohio. The football program is part of the Mid-American Conference. The team won the conference championship once in 1972. Kent State enrolls over 20,000 students each year in undergraduate and graduate programs.

    Otterbein College

    • Otterbein College is located in Westerville, a suburb of Columbus. Otterbein enrolls approximately 3,000 students each year and offers 56 undergraduate programs. The Cardinals are a Division III football team and are part of the Ohio Athletic Conference.

    Ohio University

    • Ohio University in Athens is home to Bobcats football. The Bobcats football program was founded in 1894 and is part of the Mid-American Conference. The Bobcats have won the Mid-American Conference five times. Ohio University enrolls over 16,000 students each year.

    Miami University

    • Located in Oxford, Miami University is home to the Miami RedHawks. Miami University was founded in 1809 and offers bachelor's degree programs in more than 100 areas. The RedHawks football program was founded in 1888 and is in the Mid-American Conference. The RedHawks have won 21 conference titles.
