Ohio Division II Colleges for Men's Soccer

Men's college soccer in Ohio is synonymous with the University of Akron, the NCAA D-I institution that produced Steve Zakuani, the 2009 MLS Super Draft first pick, and Teal Bunbury, the 2009 Hermann Trophy winner. However, several Ohio NCAA Division II programs also compete in men's soccer. Of Ohio's five active NCAA D-II members in 2009, four---Ashland University, Tiffin University, The University of Findlay, and Lake Erie College---had men's soccer teams.
  1. Ashland University

    • In 2009, Ashland's men's soccer team won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) regular season championship and qualifyed for the NCAA D-II tournament. The Eagles also won the GLIAC crown in 2005 and reached the NCAA tournament in 2001, 2003, and 2008. In 2009, head coach John Hall was named GLIAC coach of the year.

In 2009, they finished second in the conference behind Ashland in the regular season, defeating the Eagles in the GLIAC postseason tournament. The Dragons have only been part of the GLIAC since 2008, but this was their second post-season GLIAC title in two years in the conference.
