List of Division I Womens Soccer Colleges in Maryland

The state of Maryland is home to six of the over 320 Division I women's soccer programs in the United States. Each of these six programs belongs to a different athletic conference and varied widely in their NCAA rankings for 2009. Program details and scholarship information can be found through the athletic departments of each school.
  1. Loyola University Maryland

    • Loyola University is a Jesuit university located in downtown Baltimore. With a 2009 NCAA ranking of 64, and a win-loss-tie record of 15-5-3, Loyola University of Maryland led the Metro Atlantic conference. Six members of the 2009 Loyola Greyhound team were named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Regional Team and two players were named to the NSCAA All-Regional Team.

    University of Maryland, Baltimore County

    • University of Maryland, Baltimore County is an honors university with a strong research base located in Baltimore. Ranked nationally at 302, with a 2009 record of 2-14-1, University of Maryland, Baltimore County women's soccer program was the lowest-ranked program in the America East conference. The Retrievers sophomore goalie Mo Van Vlerah led the America East conference in saves with 102 in the 2009 season.

    University of Maryland, College Park

    • The University of Maryland located in College Park enjoys a reputation as a strong public university and was rated as a top 15 "green university" in 2009. University of Maryland, College Park is a member of the highly competitive Atlantic Coast Conference. In 2009, the program was ranked 15th nationally, with a record of 14-6-2, yet finished in the middle of the rankings of its ACC competitors. A recent Terrapin graduate from the 2009 team, Mary Casey, has signed on to play professional soccer with the Washington Freedom.

    Mount St. Mary's University

    • Mount St. Mary's University is a Catholic university of 1,600 students. Mount St. Mary's is a member of the Northeast conference, and in 2009, earned a national ranking of 242 with its record of 6-11-2. Seven members of the women's soccer team earned a place on the 2010 Northeast Conference academic honor roll.

    Towson University

    • Towson University is located about eight miles north of Baltimore and is the state's second largest public university. Towson, with a 2009 national ranking of 205, brought up the rear of the Colonial Athletic Association with a record of 7-11-2. Two 2009 Towson Tiger seniors were named to the All-CAA Women's soccer second team.

    United States Naval Academy

    • The United States Naval Academy is a military college that prepares its graduates to be Navy officers. Students applying to the Naval academy must secure a nomination from a congressman, senator or other official source to be considered for admission. With a national rank of 102 and a record of 14-5-2, the Naval Academy led the Patriot League in 2009. Several players from the 2009 Navy team received honors including four all-league players, a conference goalie of the year, a second team ECAC all-star and an Academic All-American who was also chosen by ESPN as the Academic All-American of the year in women's soccer.
