How to Loosen Up a Football Jersey
A football jersey that is too tight affects your game day performance. You need full rotation and mobility, two things a constricting jersey cannot provide. Because many football jerseys are made from high-tech polyesters or synthetic fabrics, they don't seem like a logical choice for homemade stretching. There is a technique that works, however, and if you take the time, you get a well stretched jersey to get you back into the game.
Things You'll Need
- Sink or tub
- Water
- Wide back chair

1
Fill the tub or sink with cold water and place the jersey in for at least 30 minutes, saturating the jersey as much as possible. Cold water is the better option as it seeps into the synthetic fibers and strands.
-
2
Take the jersey out of the water, wring it out and gently tug out at the sides.
-
3
Spread the jersey out and pull it over a chair back. Use a chair back as wide as the jersey allows. Pull it down all the way and let it set for one to two hours.
-
4
Spin the jersey half-way around the chair so it stretches in another direction, giving an even stretch. Continue the turns every hour until the jersey is dry and the fibers stretched.
