1
Adjust your shoulder pad clips. Most shoulder pads have either two or four adjustable clips. Adjust the clips so that they are as tight as possible. They may feel uncomfortable at first but must be tight to ensure that they are in the best position when playing.

2
Secure the helmet on your head. The inside padding of the helmet should be against your head to prevent any injuries. A helmet that is too big will not protect you as your head will bounce around inside the helmet. Adjust the chinstrap part of the helmet so it fits comfortable against your chin. The chin strap can be loosened and tightened by adjusting the buckles. It can also be snapped into the helmet at different points to ensure a comfortable fit.

3
Ensure that the gear is snug against the body. Your shoulder pads, helmet and pants should be as tight as possible without being uncomfortable. Loose-fitting gear can be easily grabbed and held by an opponent.
