Kinds of Callaway Irons

Callaway Golf was founded by Ely Callaway in 1982. The company has been rated as the world's top manufacturer of irons since 1997 and lists Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Annika Sorenstam among its line of past and present staff professionals. There are six different models included in Callaway's 2011 line of irons.
  1. Razr X Forged

    • Designed by Roger Cleveland, the Callaway Razr X Forged irons feature Tour CC grooves which increase ball spin, allowing golfers to attack the pin with greater regularity. The irons are made from forged 1020 carbon steel, which has a soft feel and enables the company's engineers to incorporate the Tour CC grooves without violating Tour rules. The clubhead features a higher, squared-off toe and a sharper leading edge, allowing players to hit more precise shots.

    Razr X Muscleback

    • The Forged Razr X Muscleback irons are made from 1020 carbon steel and are designed for the world's best golfers. The clubs feature a thin topline, a narrow sole, minimal offset and a shorter blade to optimize performance. The clubs' Tour CC grooves enable players to add more spin and give them greater control of their shots. The Muscleback irons have a flighted center of gravity design, which helps produce consistent trajectories and give it at an unrivaled level of playability.

    Diablo Forged

    • The Diablo Forged irons are championed for generating the longest distances of all Callaway's forged irons, without making any concessions on feel, accuracy and forgiveness. The Diablo Forged irons feature a combination of forged 1020 carbon steel and precision-welded 455 carpenter steel. The body is perimeter weighted to improve the clubs' playability, while the lower, deeper center of gravity creates a trajectory that leads to greater distances.

    Diablo Edge

    • The Diablo Edge irons are geared toward players of lesser ability. They provide greater distance than Callaway's other stainless steel irons and have a sweet spot that is in line with where less skilled golfers typically make contact with the ball. The position of the sweet spot helps improve accuracy and consistency, and the series also include hybrids, which can be used in place of long irons. Diablo Edge irons are equipped with a solid impact sole, ensuring a smoother interaction with the ground and improving the point of impact on the club face.

    Razr X

    • Callaway's Razr X irons are designed to maximize distance, forgiveness and feel. The irons have a lower, deeper center of gravity that is achieved by redistributing weight in the back cavity. The clubs feature Variable Face Thickness technology and a High-Definition Undercut cavity, which combine to help generate greater distance and accuracy on all shots. The Razr X line also includes a series of hybrid clubs, which can be particularly advantageous for players who struggle with their long irons.

    Razr X Tour

    • Callaway's Razr X Tour irons are best suited for golfers with a low-to-medium handicap. The clubs have a center of gravity that is 23 percent lower and 18 percent deeper than other Razr X clubs and feature a VFT face and High-Definition Undercut cavity, resulting in greater distance and accuracy. As with other Callaway products, players can substitute Razr X hybrids into their set of clubs.
