Titleist 695MB Irons Specs
-
Club Head
-
Titleist designed its 695MB irons with a forged steel blade head without the forgiveness provided by a cavity-back. This sacrifice of forgiveness increases force and spin to create longer, more workable shots. The "Z-muscle" design of the head pushes weight away from the heel, adding more to the center to assist in this effect as well. Shots struck on the sweet spot will have a soft and pleasant feel, while shots struck off-center will be very uncomfortable. These features make the irons ideal for advanced golfers, but extremely frustrating for beginners and amateurs.
Shaft
-
The standard shaft for the 695MB irons is Dynamic Gold True Temper S300 steel. This is a stiff flex, ideal for consistency and accuracy -- both crucial to any approach iron shots. Other flexes are available, including regular (R) and extra stiff (X). The speed of your swing will dictate the appropriate flex, and you can easily swap out these shafts for a lightweight graphite, which will add force but only at the sacrifice of accuracy. In the end, it all comes down to your own personal preferences.
Grip
-
The standard grip for these irons is Titleist Tour Velvet Rubber in regular or oversize. Golfers with larger than average hands may be more comfortable with oversized grips so that their fingers will fit nicely underneath their palms when they grip the club. These are also rounded grips, which means they do not have a grip assisting spine running down the backside, but this is pretty standard for most modern clubs. As with shafts, grips can be easily changed by a club fitter to any particular grips you prefer.
Counterfeit
-
Club counterfeiting has become so perfect in some cases that only a professional can determine the difference. To ensure the purchasing of authentic Titleist equipment, buy only from approved vendors, such as golf courses or commercial retail golf outlet stores. Flea markets and Internet auction websites are completely unauthorized and cannot be guaranteed authentic. If you have already purchased the clubs, you can have a professional examine them or send them directly to Titleist for verification.
