Burner 09 Irons Specs
-
Club Head
-
TaylorMade designed its Burner iron head out of a cast steel mold, instead of forged steel, to improve durability and strength. The back of the head is overlapped by the sole of the club to form an undercut cavity, which, coupled with perimeter weighting, lowers the center of gravity and widens the sweet-spot, creating more forgiving and high trajectory shots. There is also a weighted insert in center of the back of the club face to increase force at impact. These features are designed to enhance accuracy and forgiveness for less experienced golfers and increase force and workability for more experienced golfers.
Shaft
-
Golfers have variety of shafts to choose from when purchasing Burner irons direct from TaylorMade. From a lightweight graphite RE AX SuperFast (65 grams) to a heavier steel Burner SuperFast (85 grams) or a selection of steel and graphite shafts made from Aldila, Nippon and True Temper. The heavier a shaft is, the more accurate and controllable it is, but the harder it is to swing. Lightweight shafts increase speed and force, but sacrifice some accuracy. All shafts come standard in regular (R), stiff (S) and extra-stiff (X) flexes. The speed of your natural swing will dictate the ideal flex for your irons.
Grip
-
The grips for these irons are standard rounded rubber, available in regular and oversize. Golfers with large hands may want to consider oversize grips so their fingers will fit comfortably underneath the palms when holding the club. As with most modern day grips, there is no spine down the back to assist in holding the club properly. However, the grips can be removed easily and replaced with any of your choosing.
Counterfeit Clubs
-
Counterfeiting clubs is a large and lucrative business. Some counterfeits look so authentic only a professional can tell the difference. To ensure the purchase of authentic TaylorMade merchandise, buy only from approved vendors or directly from the manufacturer. Avoid unauthorized vendors, such as Internet auction websites whenever possible. If you have already purchased your clubs, you can take them to any of the approved vendors for inspection or send them to TaylorMade for verification.
