How to Purchase a Field Hockey Stick
Instructions
-
-
1
Visit a sporting goods shop in your area. Ask to try out the field hockey sticks.
-
2
Check the weight of the club to make sure it is evenly distributed. Field hockey sticks weight between 18 ounces and 25 ounces.
-
3
Make sure the length of the stick is suitable. USA Field Hockey (see references) provides a height chart showing the most suitable length of stick to purchase.
-
4
Choose between the various shaped "toes" available. The toe is the curved end of the stick used for striking the ball. A "shorti" toe gives maximum maneuverability; "hook" is best for players looking to strike the ball powerfully; "midi" offers both maneuverability and power.
-
5
Select the composite material of your stick. Fiberglass, carbon, Kevlar and Dyneema are the most common materials.
-
6
Purchase your preferred field hockey stick using cash or credit card.
