How to Cut a Lacrosse Shaft
For many children, the standard 40-to-42-inch-long stick is too long. If you want to shorten the stick by a few inches, it can be done at home with tools found in a common work space, as the sticks are made out of titanium. Afterward, the stick will be small enough for children to use.
Things You'll Need
- Tape measure
- Marker
- Hacksaw
- Fine sandpaper
- Athletic tape

1
Measure the stick from the netted end to the bottom of the handle to see how long the stick is. Determine how many inches you want to cut off. Most handles are between 40 and 42 inches long, and are cut down to about 37 inches. So, if you want to cut 5 inches off the handle, measure up 5 inches from the bottom of the handle and mark it.

2
Pull the rubber butt off the bottom of the handle.
-
3
Cut through the handle with the hacksaw. The saw cuts through the titanium handle smoothly.
-
4
Scratch fine sandpaper over the end you just cut.
-
5
Place the butt back onto the handle.
-
6
Wrap athletic tape around the bottom of the handle, including the butt.
