How to Hotwire a Golfcart

Golf carts are battery-powered vehicles. They are small vehicles that usually carry only a couple of people and some equipment. Most golf carts need a key in order to start. If you have lost your key, you will usually not be able to start the cart. However, with a simple and straightforward procedure, you can hotwire the golf cart to start it up.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubber non-conductive gloves
  • Wire cutters
  • Electricians tape

Instructions

      Turn on the power switch.

      Find the two wires leading to the ignition switch.

      Remove a cover panel if necessary.

      Put on the gloves.

      Cut the two wires free with the cutters.

      Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from each wire with the cutters.

      Twist the ends of wire together. The engine will start when they touch.

      Wrap the wires with electrician's tape.
