Homemade Ski Receiver Rack

Organize your skis by building a ski rack. Ski equipment is susceptible to damage if you leave it lying around where minor scratches and other abrasions can happen. By hanging your skis on a rack, the quality is better preserved while it also allows you to find your gear easily as soon as the snow starts falling. Building a rack allows you to customize measurements based on how many skis you own and any other personal preferences you may have.

Instructions

    • 1

Saw the studs in half. Pre-cut 2 by 6 studs are 92 5/8 inches. This will give you a rack with a length of 46 5/16 inches, enough to hold five pairs of skis. Adjust the length according to your needs.

    • 2

Use a tape measure and mark with a pencil the spacings for your ski holders. Drill five pairs of 3/4-inch holes into the rack by following your marks. Leave a space of 1 1/2 inches between the two holes.

    • 3

Put two to three drops of wood glue into each hole then place a 3/4-inch dowel in each slot. Apply some pressure with the hammer to push the dowels in securely.

    • 4

Measure how high you want the ski rack on your wall. Use the tallest pair of skis that you own, or plan to own, as a point of reference.

    • 5

Drill the rack into the wall with threaded toggle bolt wall anchors.

    • 6

Allow the wood glue to dry completely and hang your skis by aligning them back to back in between the dowels.
