How to Install Marker 12 IPT Bindings

The Marker 12 IPT binding is made for use with alpine or downhill skis. These bindings have a mounting plate that goes on the ski under the binding. This plate allows the binding to be custom adjusted without having to remove and re-drill the bindings on a new location on the ski. Mounting the bindings requires measuring out the holes to be drilled and adjusting the DIN once the binding is set to the ski.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the skis, deck up, on a work bench and secure them with the ski vises. Set one mounting plate onto the waist of the the ski--the waist is the middle of the ski--and mark where the plate holes are on the ski.

    • 2

Drill out the holes and set the mounting plate on the ski. Place the binding on top of the mounting plate and screw both the plate and binding to the ski at the drilled holes.

    • 3

Drill and mount the other ski's binding in the same process. Consult the Marker DIN chart for your weight and skiing abilities. Place the ski boots into the bindings and slide the binding toe pieces so the boot is secured into the binding. Lock down the binding and then pop out the boots by pushing them to the side to force the binding to "break" which is to say, release the boots.

    • 4

Screw the DIN dial screw at the rear of the bindings until the DIN gauge reads the number the Marker DIN chart recommends. Turn to the right to go up in number or to the left to go down.

    • 5

Test the bindings by going for a run down a bunny or beginner slope before going into harder and difficult terrain.
