Technical Information on Nordica Dobermann Skis

The Nordica Dobermann line of skis is an advanced ski designed for racers and performance-oriented skiers. Introduced in 2005, the line now includes six men's skis and three junior skis. The skis are engineered in Italy and feature a wood core.
  1. Giant Slalom

    • Nordica makes two Dobermann skis for the giant slalom racer, the GSR WC Plate and the GS. Both skis have UHMW sintered graphite Electra Gallium bases. The GS features the X-Balance integrated system, designed to keep the skier more centered and balanced on their skis and enable more powerful turns with less effort. The GS ski also comes with either the N power or N Pro binding system. The GSR WC has an Energy Frame Ti construction and comes with Marker EPS bindings for better performance. In August 2010, Nordica announced a new ski, the GS Pro XBi CT, featuring either the N Pro 25 or N Power 25 bindings. No further specs have been released on it.

    Slalom

    • For slalom skiers, who demand a more nimble ski for tighter, faster turns, Nordica has the Dobermann SL and Dobermann SLR WC, both of which have the UHMW sintered graphite Electra Gallium bases and the X-Balance integrated system. These skis have similar features to the GS line, but with a narrower waist underfoot for the quicker turning demands of slalom racing. In August 2009, Nordica announced the SL Pro XBi CT, their new slalom race ski for 2010, featuring either the N Pro or N Power 25 binding system, but no further specs are available.

    Spitfire

    • New for 2010 in the Dobermann ski line is the Spitfire Pro XBi CT. This ski can be bought with either the N Expert 25 or N Pro 25 binding system, and has the X-Balance integrated system. The Spitfire is labeled a Front Race ski, meaning it is aimed at skiers who want a race ski performance but don't want a ski that necessarily conforms to the the International Ski Federation (FIS) regulations.

    Juniors

    • For junior racers, Nordica will have two Dobermann race skis for 2010, the GSJ Plate the the SLJ Plate, aimed at either giant slalom or slalom racers. The skis have the Energy Ti sidewall, a woodcore, and come with Marker Jr. EPS bindings for ultimate performance.

    World Cup athletes

    • Nordica sponsors several World Cup racers who use Dobermann skis and boots, so they can constantly fine tune the performance of the gear.
