How to Get Scratches Off Snowboarding Goggles

If you took a rough tumble down the slopes or accidentally dropped your equipment bag while loading up the car, you might find a few minor abrasions on your snowboarding goggles. Left untreated, goggle scratches can fill with dirt and block your vision. Because most goggles are coated with iridium, chemicals should not be used to fill or remove scratching. Minor scratches can be buffed out using a minor abrasive that everyone has handy -- toothpaste.

Instructions

    • 1

Saturate a microfiber cloth with lens cleaning solution. Wipe the entire outside and inside of the goggles with the solution to remove surface dirt and debris.

    • 2

Squeeze a bead of toothpaste onto your fingertip and spread it over the scratched area. If the scratch has depth to it, ensure that the paste fills it.

    • 3

Buff the area gently with a wool pad. Use a rapid circular motion and light pressure for best results.

    • 4

Wipe the area clean with a microfiber cloth to check your progress. If the scratches still remain, repeat Steps 2 and 3 until they have been smoothed.
