How to Defog Snowboard Goggles Using Soap

Goggles are an important piece of equipment when snowboarding -- both when the sun is out, to protect you from snow blindness, and on poor weather days, when falling snow can impair your vision. Goggles have a tendency to fog up, however, especially when you are working hard and sweating. Fortunately, a variety of methods can prevent your goggle from fogging, including using dish soap on the lens.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the lens from your snowboarding goggles, if possible. You can leave the lens in your goggles, but it will be easier to apply the soap with the lens removed.

    • 2

Put several drops of dish soap on either end of the inside of the lens.

    • 3

Spread the soap around the entire lens with your finger. Make sure your finger is dry when you do this. Otherwise you will end up creating suds. Wait two minutes for the soap to set.

    • 4

Wipe the excess soap away with the rag.

    • 5

Reinsert the lens into the goggles. The soap should protect the lens from fogging for about a week.
