About Salomon Snowboard Bindings
-
Product Line
-
Salomon has an extensive offering of bindings, including 15 male models, nine female models, and two kids' bindings spanning a variety of prices. The 2010 flagship models, the Relay Pro Gift and Relay Pro Select, retail for $270. The entry level binding, the Force, has a price tag of $110.
Design
-
All Salomon bindings are designed around the industry standard four-hole mounting pattern. This allows them to be used with most snowboards on the market. All of Salomon's bindings feature synthetic baseplates designed to have a minimal impact on a board's flex. Most of their bindings also feature toe straps that wrap around the toe box of a snowboard boot. This design distributes pressure more evenly than conventional toe straps, which cinch down on the top of a boot's toe box.
Riding Styles
-
Salomon rates the flex of its bindings, which allows riders to select the binding best matched to their riding style. The company offers stiff bindings for freeriders and big mountain chargers, bindings with a mid flex for halfpipe riders, and especially flexible bindings for park rides.
Team
-
Salomon boasts a roster of team riders who test the company's boards, boots and bindings. The team includes snowboard legend and Gap Session contest organizer David Benedek, back-country ripper Annie Boulanger, three-time X-Games Slopestyle champion Jenny Jones and up-and-comer Jed Anderson.
