Inflatable Soccer Games

Penalty shootout
-
You only need one soccer goal for this game. Set up two teams of equal number and nominate a goalkeeper for each team. Place the ball about 10 yards from the goal line and line it up with the center of the goal. Each team gets five penalty kicks. If the score is tied after each side has taken five kicks, the game goes to sudden death. Each opposing pair of players compete with each other. For example, if both kickers score or miss the competition moves on to the next round. The winner is the first team whose kicker scores and saves a penalty in the same round.
Defense against attack
-
Attackers can keep the ball until the defense wins it from them. This is a great game if you are coaching a team--and you need only one goal. Have your defenders line up in formation in front of the goal. Mark out a penalty area using cones, chalk or rope. Have one attacker stand outside the penalty area and deliver a lofted ball into the penalty area with the objective of reaching a fellow attacker in scoring position. The defenders have to clear the ball away from the area in front of the goal before the attacking team puts it in the net.
Mini tournament
-
Set up two goals, one at each end of your playing area. If you are indoors, use cones to mark out the halfway point. Pick two teams of five; each team has one goalkeeper. The difference between this and traditional soccer is that the goalkeepers may not use their hands--they have to use the other parts of their bodies, especially their legs. This approach helps develop positional awareness, as the keeper can't rely on picking up the ball. No player may kick the ball over head-height. Players can shoot only from inside the opposition's half of their field. This stops speculative long-range efforts and encourages passing moves.
Free Kick
-
This is a great practice game if you are on your own. Set up a line of cones in front of the goal. Start 10 yards away from the goal and chip the ball into the goal without touching the cones. Each time you succeed, move five yards further back. Increase the number of cones and distance as you become more proficient.
