The Nike Mercurial Vapor III is the third generation of the Nike Mercurial Vapor soccer cleat. The cleat was released in 2006 and is meant to be worn by soccer players during a competitive match or practice.

    • The Nike Mercurial Vapor III cleats weigh only 6.9 ounces (196 g) each and are designed to be worn on firm ground. They boast other features, such as a lightweight carbon fiber heel and an upper consisting of Teijin microfiber that conforms to the foot.

    • The studs of the cleat are at an angle and are of different lengths. This unique design lets players accelerate quickly and change direction very sharply.

    Famous Ties

    • Many internationally famous soccer players wore the the Nike Mercurial Vapor III during the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Players such as Thierry Henry and Ronaldo adorned the cleats during the tournament, and a special edition was issued by Nike for 2006 World Cup champions Italy after the tournament ended. The Vapor III is no longer in production.
