How to Lace Soccer Shoes

Lacing your soccer shoes properly ensures that they will tighten effectively on your feet when you tie them. Lacing soccer shoes is no different from lacing up any other type of athletic shoe, and will only take you a matter of minutes. At first, soccer cleats will feel stiff when you lace them up, but that is because they are not yet broken in. Simply running with the cleats on and making sharp cuts and turns will break them in fast.

Instructions

    • 1

Separate the two lace ends, and thread them through the holes farthest down at the bottom of the cleats. The lace end in your left hand should be threaded through the hole on the right side, and the lace in your right hand should be threaded through the hole on the left side.

    • 2

Continue threading the laces through each pair of holes, continuing in a criss cross pattern.

    • 3

Pull the laces tight when you come to the last pair of holes.

    • 4

Thread the laces through the final pair of holes without criss crossing. Once you have pulled the laces through on either side, cross them and thread them through the hole on the opposite side, then pull the laces tight and tie them according to your preference of knot.
